For one thing, take care to never run an ac unit when it is less than sixty degrees fahrenheit outside, since the unit may frost up and the motor will burn out. If the unit is running then suddenly quits, wait around five minutes before restarting it back up. This will ensure the unit will not overwork itself and break, which is a common occurrence among AC units. When using a central air conditioner, give it enough time to warm up, typically 24 hours.
